Good times were had this weekend over at the Dog. Ben and Eric were able to make a full weekend of it, but unfortunately for Doug all he could do was come over just for this day on Saturday. The weather was beautiful in the morning as determined by Doug’s crossing, so they were all able to go out to the dog Island Reef to do some fishing. This was the first time for Ben on the reef, and it did not disappoint. The waves were a little bumpy but very very fishable. We were able to get in about three hours of fishing before it got too windy in the afternoon, and snag nine keeper trout and four bluefish. Eric sacrificed many jig heads to the reef as lots of large hits with teeth made short work of the fluorocarbon leaders. Then back to the cottage to clean the fish.
Doug, unfortunately had to cross in the afternoon after the waves and wind had picked up a bit and got a little soaked but Eric and Ben stayed on to have a wonderful dog Island fish dinner, and even caught a few more fish in the afternoon and Sunday morning. This is also the first entry in the new Dog Island web page so I am testing just how well it works.
